Russia Warns about Increased Danger of World Conflicts

Moscow, Feb 8 (Prensa Latina) The level of tension and danger of confrontation is increasing in a world where the West resists itself to accept the process of gradual creation of a multipolar order, Russia warned on Friday.

According to the speaker of the Council of the Federation (Russian senate), Valentina Matvienko, the level of tension is one of the highest in the world since the end of World War II, as it seems that conflicts are growing in relations among countries.

The planet is going through a time of stimulation of tensions that is related to the West's resistance to admit that it is in a process of creation of a new multipolar order, the experienced Russian politician commented.

As a result, new technological, economic and military centers are emerging, above all in the member countries of the Asia-Pacific Economic Forum, where 60 percent of world trade is concentrated, the Senator pointed out.

On her personal blog, Matvienko stated that the Brics group (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa), the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and the Euro-Asian Economic Union, among other regional blocs, are playing a major role.

That process is irreversible. However, several western powers are trying to prevent their development to maintain their hegemony in the world, the Russian official said in a clear allusion to the actions taken by the United States in the international arena.

With that goal, they act in a directed way to destroy the international law system, weaken state institutions, use economic, coercive and propagandistic instruments, and unleash trade wars, she denounced.

Matvienko pointed out that actions are strongly taken against Russia, through unilateral economic sanctions, the provocation of instability in the post-Soviet regions and the exacerbation of anti-Russian sentiments, she went on.

The withdrawal of the United States from the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces (INF) Treaty creates a disaster in the world disarmament system, the Russian senator added.

Moscow's symmetric response does not seek to unleash another arms race, because expenditures will be made in the framework established by the Russian defense budget, she stressed.
